I am an artist and teacher and currently live in Vermont. I have a Vermont licenses in Art K-12 and Special Education K - 21. In addition I am a Nationally Board Certified Art Teacher and have a Masters in Education with an emphasis on special education.
I attended the Art Students League of NY and have been a professional artist and teacher since leaving school. I was the drawing and painting teacher in high school and the Fine Arts teacher in middle school for eleven years at U-32.
Under Vermont standards I am a Highly Qualified Teacher: English LA/Reading K - 12,
Math K - 9, Science K - 9, and Social Studies K-12.
Most of my experience is in middle school and high school, however I have greatly enjoyed my time substituting in elementary school. The jobs I have had in special education have been part time or as a long term sub. I have mainly worked with students with emotional, behavioral disturbance. I like working with this population. My skills in art, my patience, compassion, and ability to form relationships with students and families have helped me be successful in these roles. Although I have continued to teach evening classes to adults, I miss being an High School art teacher and hope to return to that role.
